WaterOptimizer

Peterson Air Force Base – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Project Description

This project is located in the Peterson Air Force Base Military Housing community.  A total of 652 of new homes are being constructed from 2009 through 2010. This project includes the installation of the WaterOptimizer System into the entire military housing community with the primary objective of minimizing the total volume of potable water used for irrigation while maintaining the Xeriscaping at each home.  After one season of irrigation (June – October) with the WaterOptimizer operating in Moisture Sensor based mode, the average reduction in potable water used for irrigation in the community was greater than 40%, thus conserving approximately 8 million gallons per year.
